PT Synkrona Enjiniring Nusantara is honored to successfully conduct the dissemination of the “Pre-Feasibility Study of Renewable Ocean Energy Pilot Project in Nusa Penida to Accelerate National Energy Transition and Sovereignty.”
Ocean current energy represents a highly promising renewable resource due to its predictable, renewable, sustainable, and environmentally friendly nature. Indonesia’s marine landscape is globally unique—it is the only country in the world traversed by the major global ocean circulation known as the Indonesian Throughflow (ITF) / Arus Lintas Indonesia (Arlindo).
Unlike other marine environments worldwide that are solely driven by tides, the currents in Indonesia are a powerful combination of the ITF/Arlindo and tidal currents, which can be equal in magnitude. This unique interaction makes our straits ideal for the development of Ocean Current Power Plants (PLTAL).
Despite this immense potential, no ocean energy utilization system has been successfully built in Indonesia to date, and a feasibility study meeting international standards for this purpose had yet to be conducted. This highlights why this Pre-Feasibility Study for an ocean current power plant pilot project in Nusa Penida is so critical: it delivers a rigorous techno-economic analysis and formulates a concrete action plan to accelerate Indonesia’s energy transition and national energy sovereignty.
