Project Description

PT Pembangkitan Jawa–Bali (PT PJB) is a state-owned electricity company, a subsidiary of PT PLN, supplying power to Java and Bali. As part of its commitment to increasing the use of renewable energy (EBT) and promoting the reduction of carbon and greenhouse gas emissions in Indonesia, PJB is developing a Solar PV Power Plant equipped with a battery energy storage system (BESS) for smoothing purposes on Bawean Island, East Java. The Bawean PV project is a renewable energy initiative based on local potential, aimed at serving communities in remote and hard-to-reach areas.

The solar PV plant will be connected in a hybrid system with the existing diesel power plant (DPP) and gas engine power plant (GEPP) on Bawean Island. During the planning stage, PT Synkrona Enjiniring Nusantara was appointed as the consultant to carry out the feasibility study and grid impact study. These studies assess whether the project is technically and economically feasible and ensure that the integration of the solar plant into the island’s power grid can be achieved without causing instability or operational issues.
